While on sabbatical at a ministry training center in the Dominican Republic he witnessed young, passionate and energetic missionary families zipping here and there with the joy and energy that follows a clear call into ministry. As those ministry families were observed, our founder noted that the pace and rigors were exactly what was experienced in the United States with the exception of a few vital components. These missionaries were doing all this in a third world economy, infrastructure, health system and educational system.
The founder turned to his wife and commented, ”Someone should do something about this.” That pastor returned to pastoral ministry at the end of the summer and a few years later found himself relocated and out of pastoral ministry. Toward the end of the Covid crisis his thoughts turned back to the those missionaries in the Dominican and the phrase, “ Someone should do something about this came back to mind.” which was immediately followed by, “YOU should do something about this.”
And so in 2022 the first Yuvia retreat was held in the Dominican Republic. With a vision to replicate and expand services all throughout Latin American (and anywhere in the Western Hemisphere weary pastors need encouragement) Yuvia has been touching the lives of the people who touch lives.
We hear over and over how our missionary attendees didn’t know how tired they were until they took the time to rest. Yuvia uncovered an unspoken need. Missionaries don’t complain. But they do suffer. Yuvia enriches and extends the tenure and impact of missionaries. We want missionaries to stay in the game until God calls them off the field and not before.
We invite you to be a part of the ministry. Pray, give, serve.
The expectation of missionaries to have a rich spiritual life, healthy marriage, well adjusted children and a well led ministry are at the least significant and at worst, overwhelming.
Do you know and love any missionary families who could benefit from Yuvia Ministries?
